Bringing the Everyday to Life

This is another watercolor demonstration. I painted this from a photograph I took in Spring City, UT this fall.  As you can see, the photograph is not very exciting.  I used it more for inspiration than an exact roadmap.  The painting will be better...     What I liked from the photograph was the barn, the white truck, and the dark trees behind the buildings.  I did a number of thumbnail value sketches and decided on a composition that captured what was important to me.  I then drew it out lightly on a 10" x 14" sheet of watercolor paper.  I did a wash over the entire [...]

I am posting this demonstration I did of a farm in Spring City, UT.  I did this demonstration for a watercolor class I am teaching this month and for a woman's organization in Park City, UT.  It was a lot of fun demonstrating, but I also found it very difficult.  It is hard to use both sides of your brain at the same time.  I will first show the photo that I got my inspiration from for this painting.  My painting will not look exactly like the picture and I am not trying to....     From this photo, I did a quick value [...]
